Herreid Community Foundation, Lasting Legacy
The Herreid Community Foundation (HCF) was started in 1999 to provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes in the Herreid community at the recommendation of a local advisory council. With careful investment, their fund will continue to grow and enhance quality of life in the local area forever. This fund is one of 84 community savings accounts in partnership with SDCF.
Mitzel Family: Two Forever Endowments
In 2022, Bruce Brandner, HCF Advisory Council member, and Jamie Farmen, SDCF Community Development Coordinator, met with Donald Mitzel at his office in Aberdeen. As a donor advised fundholder and former SDCF board member, Brandner shared the benefits of establishing an endowment that would benefit the Herreid community forever.
Gail and Delores Miller Foundation Grants Over $2.8 Million to South Dakota Nonprofits
Because of the generosity and vision of the late Gail and Delores Miller, many charitable causes in South Dakota will benefit for years to come. Since its inception, the Gail and Delores Miller Foundation held with the South Dakota Community Foundation has distributed over $2.8 million to statewide nonprofits in the Pierre, Fort Pierre, Lyman and Jones County communities. Distributions will continue in memory of the Miller’s forever.
