Pierre, S.D. – South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Cante Waunsilipi Wi Ta Ominciya (Kind Hearted Women’s Society). Funding will support the launch of the Sacred Voices of Women Podcast Series, a new platform designed to amplify Indigenous women’s voices through storytelling, interviews, and dialogue centered on cultural heritage, resilience, and community issues.
“This funding supports more than a podcast—it builds a platform for Indigenous girls and young women to speak their truth, share their stories, and shape the future,” said Caylee Martinez, Founder of Kindhearted Women’s Society. “By amplifying our voices through storytelling and cultural connection, we're reclaiming space, healing together, and creating a stronger path forward for the next generation.”
Kindhearted Women’s Society is an Indigenous-led young women’s organization founded in 2023. Staying true to its mission of empowering Indigenous young women with essential tools, resources, and support to reach their full potential, the podcast aims to uplift the voices of women, girls, and community members. Episodes will feature personal stories and interviews, cultural discussions on traditions and heritage, and conversations addressing social challenges and community resilience.
“SDCF is proud to assist Kindhearted Women’s Society in establishing their Podcast Series,” said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Using a platform that’s embraced by a younger generation to keep conversations about cultural traditions alive is such an innovative idea.”
