Kadoka Area Foundation Receives $25,000 Gift from Crews
June 20, 2025 // Community Savings Account, Donors

Kadoka Area Foundation (KAF) has received a $25,000 donation from Grady and Bernice Crew of Cactus Flat, S.D., to give back to the communities that have supported their family since 1908. For years to come, their gift will leave a sustainable funding source for causes in the Kadoka area.
The Crew family credits the people in the region with shaping the values that built their ranching, tourism and crop insurance businesses.

“We’ve been contemplating ways to benefit our communities for years and are humbled and honored to give back to the people who have given so much to us,” the Crews said. “Because of encouragement from Rusty Olney’s challenge match, we are proud to make this contribution. We encourage others to do the same.”
A Gift that Grows
Kadoka Area Foundation is a permanent endowment managed by South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF). Donations are invested, and a percentage of the fund is distributed annually under the guidance of a local advisory council. As the fund grows, so does its impact.

KAF Advisory Council is currently in a challenge to raise $100,000 by May 2027 for a match of $100,000 from Rusty Olney of Kadoka, S.D. and $50,000 from SDCF.
