Pierre, S.D. – South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) has awarded a $15,250 South Dakota Fund grant to the Domestic Violence Network of the Lakes Region (DVN) to help provide vital support and shelter for victims and survivors of domestic abuse in Lake and Miner counties.

Founded by concerned Madison-area citizens in 2008, DVN has grown into a critical resource for individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. With 24/7 crisis support, short-term emergency shelter, advocacy, education, and access to community services, DVN ensures that those in need have local access to safety and support.

“The impact the South Dakota Community Foundation will make on The Domestic Violence Network of the Lakes Region and those we serve is going to be astounding!” said Carolyn Galvin, DVN Executive Director. “These funds will support victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking along with supporting operations to continue to provide safe services and an emergency shelter. With the unknown of state and federal funding cuts, the SD Community Foundation will help DVN continue to provide services to victims and survivors in Lake and Miner counties.”

“DVN plays an essential role in keeping their community safe and supported,” said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We’re proud to support their mission and help ensure their services remain available to those who need them most.”
