South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $8,930 South Dakota Fund grant to Friends of the Museum W.H. Over Museum. Funding will be used to assist in re-establishing their children’s education program that will foster education, cultural appreciation, and engagement for youth of all ages in Vermillion and surrounding communities.

"W.H. Over Museum is exceptionally please to receive the South Dakota Fund grant that the University of South Dakota grants-writing class helped us write," said William Ranney, WH Over Museum Acting Director. "This funding is being used to revive the educational programs that the museum conducted in years past and will allow us to continue these programs into the future."

To reach their goal of educating and inspiring lifelong learning in the subject relating to the natural and cultural history of South Dakota, W.H. Over Museum (Museum) has partnered with Boys & Girls Club of Vermillion (BGCV) to reinstate its children education program. The programs offered will be hands-on and interactive to provide children with a vibrant place to learn about natural and cultural history of South Dakota. Though these programs will be open to all youth, partnering with BGCV the Museum will provide support to staff working with large groups and educational expertise to ensure youth at BGCV are receiving research-based, age-appropriate and fun programming.

“W.H. Over Museum has a wonderful program that allows children to learn the history of South Dakota in a fun and interactive way. We are proud to partner with them on this program," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer.
