To provide financial support to South Dakota high school graduates that are children or grandchildren of United States veterans.
Scholarship Details
Eligibility:
Statewide scholarship is available to all South Dakota students
Scholarship is open to veterans, their children, and their grandchildren who are legal residents of South Dakota. Current and present membership of the veteran, parent, or grandparent in the South Dakota American Legion is required, unless deceased. Out-of-state children and grandchildren may apply only if the veteran is a living member in good standing of a South Dakota American Legion Post.
Demonstrate financial need
Attending any South Dakota college, university, or technical college
One-time, lifetime scholarship award
March 15 deadline
This scholarship is funded through voluntary contributions from legion posts, private individuals, and businesses. It is designated to provide educational opportunities beyond high school to eligible veterans, their children, and their grandchildren.
