South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to South Dakota Youth Foundation, Inc. Funding will aid in the development of the program expansion of Teens as Teachers; supporting an added trainer and facilitating donor engagement.

“Teens As Teachers is rooted in the ‘change agent’ power of older youth to teach and mentor younger students. The South Dakota Youth Foundation, Inc. is committed to school partnerships which support high school students teaching lessons in character development and healthy living. These grant funds will expand Teens As Teachers to more high school students across the state,” states Carol Birgen, Program Leader South Dakota Youth Foundation, Inc.

The South Dakota Youth Foundation, Inc. was founded by community leaders and volunteers searching for better ways to meet the needs of South Dakota youth in communities across the state. Teens As Teachers is a framework and school partnership to deliver capacity building lessons in Character, and Healthy Lifestyles. The group partners with numerous schools across the state with their youth-led empowerment programs.
