South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $5,000 South Dakota Fund grant to North Sioux Dakota Valley Recreational Complex. Funding will assist with rebuilding the baseball fields damaged during the 2024 flood.
“Being named a recipient of a South Dakota Community Foundation grant is a true blessing,” said Richard Snidt, Treasure, North Sioux Dakota Valley Recreational Complex. “These funds will be put to great use in assisting our board of volunteers in expediting the recovery process of our complex. This will enable the youth of our community to enjoy all that our complex has to offer in the past as well as what we hope to offer in the future.”
Founded in 2006, North Sioux Dakota Valley Recreational Complex promotes and operates to provide youth in the North Sioux City area with a recreational complex which allows them to participate in baseball, softball, football, and soccer. Since the 2024 flood, the five-member volunteer board has been repairing damage caused by the flood. Funding will assist with rebuilding the baseball field by repairing the damaged grass in the infield and outfield area, as well as repairing the infield area that was washed away from flooding.
“Together, we are investing in the growth and development of children, ensuring they have a place to gather and play in sporting events,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are proud to partner with North Sioux Dakota Valley Recreational Complex.”
