South Dakota Community Foundation Awards $20,000 to Spink County Daycare
November 10, 2025 // Grants, South Dakota Fund Grants
South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Spink County Daycare. Funding will assist with purchasing essential equipment and supplies that will ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children, helping to open the doors to provide much needed childcare services for families.
“We are incredibly grateful to be awarded a grant through the South Dakota Fund Grant program, which will play a vital role in bringing our community daycare project to life,” said Gianna Schieffer, Grow Spink County Director. “These funds will directly support essential facility enhancements and the purchase of kitchen equipment, helping us create a safe, welcoming, and nourishing environment for the children we serve. This support brings us one step closer to providing families in Spink County with the quality care and resources they deserve.”
Spink County Daycare is committed to providing accessible, affordable and high-quality childcare for the families of Spink County. Once open, Spink County Daycare will serve children aged infant to four-years old, employing seven full-time staff and three part-time staff. Spink County Daycare will help close the gap in childcare availability after the loss of two daycares in the last year and confirmation of multiple providers retiring in the next few years.
“We are proud to support Spink County Daycare in finding a solution to the loss of childcare options in their area,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer.
