The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $30,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Seeds of Eden due to the loss of federal funding. Funding will assist with outfitting and staffing rapid-response teams to de-escalate crises, conduct on-scene assessments, provide safety planning and transport to care, and connect individuals to sober housing.

"The support from the South Dakota Community Foundation is far more than financial‒it’s a seed of healing for the Lakota people across Standing Rock Sioux Tribe‒empowering us to partner with Bear Soldier District to build recovery homes that strengthen families and renew hope for those walking out of addiction and into purpose,” said Isaiah Keller, Seeds of Eden Executive Director. “Every bed, every meal, every minute of detox, and every moment of care is a powerful step for the recovery warrior. SDCF’s partnership reminds us that recovery is not just about sobriety‒it’s about sovereignty. Together, we are healing.”

Seeds of Eden works to provide faith-based recovery housing, peer support, and culturally rooted vocational training that empowers Indigenous individuals and families to break the cycle of addiction and build healthy, self-sustaining lives. Serving Standing Rock and surrounding tribal communities, the rapid response teams respond directly to crises by answering calls related to overdoses, domestic violence, and mental health emergencies. The trained staff provide immediate stability, safe transport, and rapid connection to recovery resources. Funding will also assist with the expansion of Recovery Housing. Recovery Housing offers sober living environments where individuals find refuge from addiction and begin rebuilding their lives.

"We are proud to support Seeds of Eden as they work to bring hope and healing to the Standing Rock and surrounding areas," says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Working together, recovery is possible.”
