Planning Together for a Stronger Future

Lake Francis Case Development Corporation Inc., a regional nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic vitality and community well-being, received a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant from South Dakota Community Foundation to support planning efforts for Chamberlain, Oacoma and Brule County.

This planning will unite multiple communities under a single shared cause, guiding the region's growth through collaboration rather than competition.

"We're proud to support efforts like this, where communities choose to collaborate and grow together rather than separately," said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. "That kind of unity makes a real difference."

That unity will be put into action through the strategic planning process itself — a critical step in identifying needs, setting shared priorities and establishing a clear, actionable path forward. By taking these steps today, Chamberlain, Oacoma and Brule County become well-positioned to face emerging challenges and make the most of new opportunities.

“We are incredibly grateful to the South Dakota Community Foundation for investing in the future of Chamberlain-Oacoma and Brule County, said LFCDC Director Sheena Larsen. “By bringing residents, businesses, and community leaders together, we're creating a shared vision that will guide decisions and opportunities for years to come.”

That shared vision is already taking shape. More than 240 community members, both online and in person, have taken a survey capturing community needs, opportunities and priorities, a strong first step toward ensuring every voice is heard.

“I am particularly glad to see a focus on all communities within the county, including our rural areas and neighbor, Oacoma,” said long-time Brule County resident Doug Feltman. “Ensuring that the needs and voices of residents across Brule County are included will make this effort more meaningful and effective.”
