South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $6,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Royal Family KIDS Camp. Funding will support a weeklong meal plan for the foster children and the volunteers.

“Royal Family KIDS Camp greatly appreciates being chosen for a SD Community Foundation grant. Our purpose is to create life-changing moments for children of abuse and neglect so they can once again dream, believe, and find new hope for their futures! This grant will be used to provide three healthy meals and daily snacks for our campers. Thank you for helping us create positive memories in the life of a child,” says Christine Brantner, Director, Royal Family KIDS Camp.

Royal Family KIDS Camp is a week-long overnight summer camp for children ages 6-11 who have been or currently are in foster care. Campers receive one on one attention from safe, caring adults modeling a non-violent, positive way of life as an alternative to many of the negative, abusive situations which children of abuse and neglect have faced. For one week, instead of operating in survival mode, they can just be kids. With tea parties, crafts, woodworking, birthday parties, music, dress up and much more, these kids can feel "normal" and once again dream, believe and find new hope for their future.

“We are proud of the partnership with Royal Family KIDS Camp working to create life-changing moments for children in foster care,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer.
