South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Funding will support equipment and facility upgrades to hospital-owned Prairie Sunset Village (PSV), the only remaining assisted living and senior housing facility in Mobridge, S.D.

"Residents have been most excited about upcoming renovations to the tub room and the south lawn," shared Haden Merkel, Philanthropy Engagement Coordinator for Mobridge Regional Hospital. "Boilers aren't news unless they aren't working, but replacing them was also a serious, pressing need. In the midst of our current building project, it would have been impossible to get all of this done without help from the South Dakota Community Foundation.”

The Mobridge Regional Hospital is a community-owned non-profit organization that owns and operates a 25-bed critical access hospital, four rural health clinics, a rural ambulance service, and PSV. PSV is connected to the hospital so residents have access to fast, quality health care when needed and can share staff costs with Mobridge Regional Hospital and Mobridge Medical Clinic. Their mission is to provide high-quality healthcare services in a compassionate and professional manner for people throughout the region. The organization has been a trusted provider and advocate for rural health services for 18,600 rural residents for over 60 years while serving a 5-county region. The organization keeps local health care needs and services relevant and top-of-mind in their community.

“The capital investments being made will have a generational impact for so many fellow South Dakotans,” said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “The SDCF is proud to partner with the Mobridge Regional Hospital and PSV on their endeavor in providing high-quality healthcare.”
