The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to the Lake Norden Ambulance District. Funding will aid in the purchase of two e700 ventilators to provide emergency care to the public.

“With the generous grant of $20,000, we will be able to replace two transport ventilators with all accessories for both of our ambulances. This equipment is vital and important in the event of transporting patients in respiratory distress, failure, and arrest. This equipment has many different modes to use in patient care. This aids in appropriate ventilation for patients during transport as our closest hospital is over thirty miles,” states Jennifer Hallstrom, Lake Norden Ambulance District.

The Lake Norden Ambulance District serves approximately 320 square miles and is located thirty miles south of Watertown and forty miles northwest of Brookings. Lake Norden Ambulance District is a volunteer ambulance service that provides emergency care 24 hours per day 7 days per week to the public. A fire destroyed the municipal building along with all equipment and supplies on May 3, 2023. These funds will support the purchase of two e700 ventilators.
