The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to the Bethany Christian Services. Funding will support their ReNew Program (Recovering Mothers with Newborns) as new mothers struggle to overcome addiction.
“ReNew is rooted in the belief that women with a history of substance use can recover. The ReNew team walks with expectant mothers—supporting her in recovery, sharing parenting practices to help with attachment and bonding, and connecting her with community resources. Women and children will have the ability to thrive together, developing life-changing, sustainable behaviors,” says Sarah Caldararo, Executive Branch Director, Bethany Christian Services of South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
Bethany Christian Services serves and supports expectant parents, foster families, and individuals/families in need. Bethany strives to provide a safe and supportive environment and is committed to protecting children and empowering families by adapting their programs and services to meet the changing needs of children, youth, and families.
“This program is offering support to women who need a safe place to heal,” says Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “We are happy to partner with them in creating a community where hope and healing thrive."
SDCF is a public non-profit organization established in 1987. SDCF, with offices in Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen administers 1,200 funds benefiting hundreds of charitable organizations annually. The Foundation distributed nearly $30 million in grants in 2022 which made a tremendous difference in communities statewide. This would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors.
