“We are excited to continue serving as a community hub for nonprofit excellence with our relocation to the United Way Community Impact Center.”Lauren Hanson, Executive Director
United Way of Greater Yankton was founded September 1957 for the purpose of meeting the health, welfare, and recreational needs of the greater Yankton Community. In 1992, the Yankton Volunteer & Information Center merged with the United Way and was known as United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton, whose mission is to promote voluntary giving and services to support human needs in the greater Yankton area. United Way launched a partnership with Horizon Health Care to build and facilitate the United Way Community Impact Center in Yankton. This collaboration supports shared services with other nonprofits, increases efficiencies and reduces duplication in the nonprofit community. Community rooms in the Center are available for educational, cultural, intellectual, civic, or charitable activities at no cost to local nonprofit organizations.
The South Dakota Community Foundation awarded United Way of Greater Yankton a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant that will be used for security equipment in the United Way Community Impact Center. This will go a long way in ensuring the safety of staff and clients along with technology used in shared community rooms for trainings and other educational opportunities.
“United Way of Greater Yankton continues to evolve by addressing critical community needs both by investing in, facilitating, and collaborating with measurable, impactful programming. The United Way Community Impact Center is a mission-based move, allowing us and our partners to expand services to community volunteers and clients”, stated Lauren Hanson, Executive Director, United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton. “We are excited to continue serving as a community hub for nonprofit excellence with our relocation to the United Way Community Impact Center. We are thankful for the investment from the South Dakota Community Foundation.”
“We are delighted to partner with United Way of Greater Yankton to support their efforts to protect anyone using their new facility”, stated Ginger Niemann, Senior Program Officer, SDCF. “By helping them, we are able to help many other area nonprofits.”
