We are proud to serve our community and grateful for the support from the South Dakota Community Foundation, whose generous grant will ensure our work will continue to grow in 2021-2022.”

Women’s Day of Service is an annual event that partners with local non-profits to provide baskets and new home kits to economically disadvantaged women in Sioux Falls and its surrounding communities. Last year, they built over 860 feminine hygiene kits for their partner agencies and halfway through the year all had been distributed.

The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) was pleased to provide a $5,000 Coronavirus Response Fund grant to Women’s Day of Service to purchase materials necessary for these kits.

“The grant provided by the South Dakota Community Foundation will directly impact women and families in need in the Sioux Falls Community”, said Heather Krause, Founder of Women’s Day of Service. “Every single dollar donated will go towards building hygiene and support kits to local women who lack access to basic hygiene and post-partum products. A gift this size will provide over 130 hygiene kits, 45 post-partum support kits or 40 new home baskets. We are proud to serve our community and grateful for the support from the South Dakota Community Foundation, whose generous grant will ensure our work will continue to grow in 2021-2022.”
“This past year has been challenging for everyone”, said Ginger Niemann, Senior Program Officer, SDCF. “Women shouldn’t have to worry about acquiring basic essentials.”

In response to the pandemic, SDCF’s Board of Directors established the Coronavirus Response Fund to directly support the needs of communities and nonprofits affected by COVID-19. This fund addresses immediate needs including access to food, shortage of volunteers, healthcare sector support and human services sector support. Donations are being accepted. If you would like to lend your support to those who continue to be impacted by this virus, or just learn more, please visit sdcommunityfoundation.org. Donations can be made on-line or checks may be directed to SDCF, PO Box 296, Pierre, SD 57501. One hundred percent of donations made to the SDCF Coronavirus Fund go directly to those in need throughout our state.
