Play Ball!October 13, 2021 // South Dakota Fund Grants
“We are excited to have a ballpark in our community; and be one step closer to hosting our own little league tournaments and games on a regular basis.”Kelly Hanson, Project Coordinator, C.A.R.E.
C.A.R.E., Community Advancement for Roslyn and Eden, was formed in September 1998. The organization grew out of a series of meetings focused on economic concerns from flooding in their area. After these initial meetings, a group of concerned citizens agreed to continue meeting and work to promote their community.
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) provided a $2,000 South Dakota Fund grant to C.A.R.E. This grant will provide support for upgrades at the baseball/softball field in Roslyn. The project began three years ago and has involved many volunteer hours and labor. The result is a safe and appealing field that will be used by teams and spectators of all ages.
“We are very excited to receive the South Dakota Community foundation grant”, stated Kelly Hanson, Project Coordinator, C.A.R.E. “This grant will help us to finish raising the funds for our latest concession stand renovation completed this past summer. We will also be using these funds for a landscaping project this fall and next spring. We are excited to have a ballpark in our community; and be one step closer to hosting our own little league tournaments and games on a regular basis.”
“This project is a prime example of what a small community can accomplish when everyone works together”, said Ginger Niemann, Senior Program Officer, SDCF. “Not only does this field provide an opportunity for area youth to participate in and learn from sports; but it also has a huge economic impact for this area.”
