Fork Real Community Café has become an integral part of the Rapid City Community. With their unique model of a pay-what-you-can café, their team welcomes everyone to a dignified dining experience mirroring a normal restaurant, regardless of ability to pay.

The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) was pleased to provide a $20,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Fork Real Community Café. This grant will support the costs of meals served and provide operational support to kitchen staff thus improving their capacity to meet the needs of their community.

“Fork Real Community Café is not a soup kitchen. We’re a regular restaurant where everyone has the opportunity to participate in our mission by giving back”, said Rhonda Pearcy, Founder/Executive Director, Fork Real Community Cafe. “We’re delighted to have the South Dakota Community Foundation as a Fork Real partner. The work must go on to fight hunger and improve food security.”
“The Fork Real Community Cafe not only provides an important service by furnishing healthy meals; but provides a place where everyone can feel they are a part of their community”, said Ginger Niemann, Senior Program Officer, SDCF. “It is a place where everyone is invited to the table.”
