A "Hand-Up" for Children
June 14, 2021 // South Dakota Fund Grants
“Together we can continue to touch lives and better our communities, one heart at a time.””
Heather Pleinis, Grant Coordinator, REALTORS for Kids
In 2003, a group of individuals from the Northern Black Hills Association of REALTORS got together to address a growing need in the community. As realtors, they recognized the need to build stronger communities by creating opportunities for children. The group set out to develop a plan to raise funds and assist children with needs that were otherwise not being met. Since its inception in 2003, REALTORS for Kids (RFK) has donated over $1 million to children in need throughout the Black Hills.
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) was pleased to provide a $6,000 South Dakota Fund grant to this organization. This grant will support the continuation of these efforts to provide financial support for area children.
“Thank you to the South Dakota Community Foundation for your generous donation and continued support of the REALTORS for Kids organization”, said Heather Pleinis, Grant Coordinator, RFK. “The funds provided will be used to support RFK’s mission of bettering the lives of children in financial need throughout the Northern Black Hills by giving them a “hand-up”. Specifically, the monies will be used to provide children with urgent and ongoing medical needs to get the care and treatment they need. Together we can continue to touch lives and better our communities, one heart at a time.”
“We are proud to continue to partner with REALTORS for Kids”, said Ginger Niemann, Senior Program Officer, SDCF. “Funds that are used to improve the life of a child are dollars well spent.”
