Celebrating LangfordFebruary 19, 2020 // Community Innovation Grants
The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) presented a $10,000 Community Innovation Grant (CIG) to Glacial Lakes Area Development. Offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, the Community Innovation Grant program supports efforts to find breakthrough solutions to community challenges across the state. The grant will provide support for a community gathering and establishment of initiative teams to ensure that Langford continues to grow and prosper.
“We have many things to celebrate in the community of Langford”, said Lindsey Kimber, Executive Director, Glacial Lakes Area Development. “With the help of the Community Innovation Grant, our goal is to keep Langford a thriving rural community through active engagement from community members of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds. Glacial Lakes Area Development and Dakota Resources will provide a platform for all community members to become involved in shaping the future of Langford.”
Community teams will be formed based on areas identified as the highest need along with those showing the highest number of volunteer interest.
“The South Dakota Community Foundation is pleased to partner with Glacial Lakes Area Development as they garner public input to chart the direction for the community of Langford”, said Ginger Niemann, SDCF Senior Program Officer. “Future planning is essential and ensures our rural communities will remain viable for years to come.”
A total of $400,000 will be available to nonprofits in 2020 through the Community Innovation Grant program.
