Chuck Haugland, a member of the Alcester Community Foundation, presents Carol Berkheimer, treasurer of the Alcester-Hudson Food Pantry, with two checks for the food pantry. The Alcester Community Foundation is giving a $1,300 grant to the Alcester-Hudson Food Pantry and the South Dakota Community Foundation is matching this grant with another $1,300 grant. This money will be used to keep the food pantries supplied with the non perishable food items and vouchers for such things as meat, poultry and milk that are necessary for the families in the two communities. The South Dakota Community Foundation is in its second round of matching grants through the Community Savings Account’s response to the Coronavirus. The South Dakota Community Foundation reached out to local community foundations with an offer to match grant applications that are needed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. The first round of grants was in April, and the second round of grants was available in May and June.
