NESDEC Non-Profit Enhancement Conference

More than $48,000 was awarded to nonprofit agencies to assist them with organizational capacity building needs. The grants, awarded by the Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation were the result of a South Dakota Nonprofit Enhancement Project grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation in conjunction with the Bush Foundation. The grant awarded to NESDEC was used to host educational training opportunities and to make organizational capacity building grants to area nonprofits.

Pat Adam, board member of the SDCF and Ginger Niemann, Program Officer award a grant check in the amount of $7,000 to Scott Domke of the Tulare Economic Development Corporation and Lori Hintz with Beadle & Spink Enterprise Community, Inc. The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand River Area receives a check in the amount of $7,000 for their SMART moves program.


Western Resources for dis-ABLED Independence of Rapid City is presented a $5,000 check by Program Officer Ginger Niemann. This grant will assist with their "Youth in Transition" program.


Indigenous Diabetes Education Alliance
SD Community Foundation Program Officer Ginger Niemann presents a $7,000 grant check to Susan Ricci of the IDEA to support the Native American Youth Diabetes Prevention Program.

Black Hills Recovery Network
SDCF Program Officer Ginger Niemann presents a $15,000 grant check to Joan Harris of the Black Hills Recovery Network.

Bob Sutton, SDCF President, presents a $7,000 check to Dan Miller of the Lake Area Zoological Society in Watertown. Jan DeBerg from the Watertown Community Foundation also participated in the presentation.


Cheryl Hanna from Access to Justice is presented with $10,000 to assist with matching funds for their pro bono program.

 


Blake Hoffman, board member of the SDCF awards a check in the amount of $5,000 to benefit the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra. Robert Joyce from Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society receives a $3,000 check from Ginger Niemann, Program Officer for the South Dakota Community Foundation. This grant will assist with their Jazz Diversity Project.


South Dakota Community Foundation board members, Pat Adam and Charlie Thompson award the Boys & Girls Club of Pierre $7,000 to assist with their Family P.L.U.S. Program.

 


The Native American Community Board is presented a check from Ginger Niemann, Program Officer of the South Dakota Community Foundation. This $7,000 grant will assist with their Transitional Housing program in Lake Andes.

The South Dakota Nonprofit Association has been awarded a $5,000 grant to assist with their expansion efforts. The South Dakota Community Foundation will be working in conjunction with the Bush Foundation to develop and strengthen this organization.

SDCF President Bob Sutton presents a $15,000 grant check to Mary Kapco of the Homestake-Adams Research and Cultural Center in Deadwood.


HELP!Line

Board members and staff from HELP!Line located in Sioux Falls accept a check in the amount of $7,500 from Ginger Niemann, Program Officer for the South Dakota Community Foundation. These funds will assist with the new call center phone system.


Special Olympics SD

Ann Sigelman and Blake Hoffman, board members of the South Dakota Community Foundation award Darryl Nordquist of Special Olympics South Dakota a $40,000 "matching grant" check at their capital campaign kick off.

Three South Dakota Special Olympics athletes accept a $40,000 grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation to support the organization and its endowment campaign.

 


Sustainable Harvest

Dan O'Brien from Sustainable Harvest and one of the organizations board members accepts a check from Bob Sutton, President of the South Dakota Community Foundation. This mobile meat processing plant is a converted semi trailer, capable of traveling to remote ranches on reservations and, in a humane manor, killing Native buffalo.


Verendrye Museum

Ginger Nieman, Program Officer for the South Dakota Community Foundation presents a $10,000 check to Darby Nutter, president of the Verendrye Museum board, and other board members. The grant will support the Verendrye Museum's Fort Pierre to Deadwood trail ride, which will raise funds for museum renovations.

Youth and Family Services Foundation

SDCF President Bob Sutton presents the Youth and Family Services Foundation a $5,000 grant to assist with a feasibility study for an endowment campaign.


Habitat for Humanity

Bob Sutton, President of the South Dakota Community Foundation, presents the generous check to Habitat for Humanity – South Dakota for their continued efforts in advocacy on affordable housing in South Dakota.
