Since 1987, the South Dakota Community
Foundation has awarded over $28 million in
grants generated by earnings on our
permanent endowment fund. These grants have
been awarded across the state of South
Dakota for charitable causes ranging from
the economic development initiatives to
providing the most basic human needs such as
food and shelter. The South Dakota Community
Foundation manages assets totaling over $67
million, of which $62 million are
permanently endowed. The endowment is held
in over 350 separate funds, each with a
charitable purpose and direction. The
philanthropic individuals and organizations
that have established these funds will leave
a lasting legacy to the charitable causes of
their choice.
The mission of the South Dakota Community
Foundation is to promote philanthropy,
receive and administer charitable gifts and
invest in a wide range of programs promoting
the social and economic well being of the
people of South Dakota.
The South Dakota Community Foundation
accepts, manages and administers five kinds
of funds, all of which are held in permanent
endowment and are designed to allow the
donor to meet their charitable goals.
