2010 South Dakota Nonprofit Enhancement Project

Organizational Capacity Building Grants

The South Dakota Community Foundation is in the process of evaluating over 140 applications for organizational capacity building grants received in 2010. The purpose of these grants will be to build the capacity of nonprofits to more effectively fulfill the missions of their organizations. Successful nonprofits will receive grants for a variety of capacity building needs, including but not limited to: developing a strategic plan, program evaluation, communications, board development, grant writing assistance, management transition, financial management review, and fund development.

Grant recipients will be notified by September 3, 2010.

The 2010 convened meetings of the South Dakota Nonprofit Enhancement Project were very successful. Hundreds of representatives from large and small nonprofit organizations attended the meetings in Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Pierre. In addition, one of our intermediary partners, Rural Ethnic Institute, provided similar training opportunities for nonprofits on the Pine Ridge, Rosebud, Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Reservations. We hope you were able to participate in one of the meetings. If not, please view or print materials from any or all of the sessions by clicking on the button below.
Conference attendees also will receive valuable information about the South Dakota Community Foundation's (SDCF) Nonprofit Enhancement Grant program and have an opportunity to meet with SDCF officials. Nonprofit executives, senior staff, board members, and volunteers are encouraged to attend.

At the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) we care about one thing - South Dakota.  In particular, we care about the people and future of our state.  For over twenty years we have been working for South Dakotans by supporting and encouraging philanthropy.

Connecting Donors and Charities for a stronger South Dakota

SDCF is a non-profit organization which administers a $75 million dollar endowment fund, made up of private gifts from individuals, families and businesses.

We serve two groups in our quest to make South Dakota a better place.

  1. Donors:  We help make the charitable giving process easier and more effective by setting up funds and managing charitable gifts.

  2. Non-profits:  Our partnerships with charitable organizations allow us to meet the needs of South Dakotans today and ensure their success in the future.
